A high pressure system to the southwest of New Mexico continues to grow in strength today. This high is keeping temperatures across the state warm today and tomorrow. By Thursday, this high pressure will move directly over New Mexico. Leading to the hottest temperatures of the week on Friday.

Spotty shower have the chance to occur across the higher elevations of New Mexico for the next few days. Right now, most models agree that the Northern Mountains and Gila National Forest will see a few spotty showers. However, there is model disagreement over whether or not the Sacramento Mountains will see any rain. I think there is a chance for the Sacramento Mountains to see rain on Wednesday.

While storm clouds are expected over the next few days in the higher elevations, it is unclear if any of the rain will actually reach the ground. Due to a dry surface layer, the rain could evaporate before reaching the ground.

A cold front will be moving through New Mexico late this weekend. Allowing temperatures to cool off on Monday.
