As preparations for Milton continue, people from all over the country are offering their support.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – As preparations for Milton continue, people from all over the country are offering their support.

Fearful residents flee Tampa Bay region as Hurricane Milton takes aim at Florida coast

These preparations came right after Helene already devastated the region, and as Milton reached a category 5 level storm, the region could use all the support they could get.

As many people in the southeast urgently need food, clothing, and other essentials, the Southwick Civic Fund is organizing a collection drive. You can donate any non-perishable foods and other items like diapers, brooms, duct tape, cold weather clothing, and personal hygiene items at the Southwick Fire Department, which will be open 24/7 for drop-offs.

The MSPCA has welcomed dozens of animals from the southeast and will offer waived adoption fees to help affected animals find homes

22News and our parent company, Nexstar Media, are also teaming up with the American Red Cross to raise money for those affected.

Thousands of people will need support over the next week, and the Red Cross is looking for volunteers.
