WILSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A Wilson County family that recently moved to St. Petersburg, Florida is preparing for Hurricane Milton.

Heather Young told News 2 she is most worried about the unhoused after she moved down south to expand her ministry.

“We know from tornados from Nashville and Lebanon there is nothing scarier than storms coming in at night,” Young said.

Young and her family recently moved from Wilson County to just outside of St. Petersburg, where her community is still recovering from Hurricane Helene. “It’s just so much sadness, it’s just so much sadness right now.”

Young shared video with News 2 from St. Pete where you can see furniture and debris piled up on the side of the road. “We’ve spent a lot of time volunteering, we have pulled up floorboards, furniture.”

She’s also been checking in on the most vulnerable population, the unhoused. “Right now, it’s terrifying because there is no place for them to go. They keep getting pushed out just like Nashville they keep getting pushed out.”

Young started All for Him Ministry in Lebanon and Nashville. Her ministry feeds the unhoused community under the pedestrian bridge every Sunday.

She recently expanded her ministry to St. Pete. “I saw the need in St. Pete, it is so big it’s about the equivalent of Nashville,” Young said.

She’s been working to make sure the unhoused have evacuated and are in sheltered areas.

“It’s the not knowing. It’s not knowing what’s going to happen,” Young said. “And so many people out there are displaced so there are a lot of people out there with the homeless that we serve.”

And as her family fears for the worst, she said she’s holding onto faith.

“It’s the scariest thing I can tell you. My kids have so much anxiety, we all do. We are having our faith that God is with us, and we know that he got us,” Young said.
