LILIHA, Hawaii (KHON2) — Honolulu police have arrested and charged a 33-year-old man in connection with a suspicious vehicle investigation.

On Tuesday, officials issued an All-Points Bulletin for a black Jeep that was last seen in the Kalihi area after a witness saw a man force a 26-year-old woman into the car against her will shortly after noon.


Honolulu police search for suspicious vehicle, possibly related to kidnapping

According to police, no one was home at the registered owner’s address, and the location of the vehicle was unknown. The vehicle information was then released through HPD’s social media.

The Criminal Investigation Division Strategic Enforcement Detail took over the case at 5 a.m. on Wednesday and positively identified the male suspect and unknown female victim.

Witnesses said the two were involved in a romantic relationship. The relationship took a turn when the suspect “began abusing the victim and holding her against her will.”

Around 12:15 p.m. on Thursday, SED and District Five apprehended and arrested the suspect in the Nimitz area of Kalihi without incident.

He was arrested “on the strength of a Warrant of Arrest.” His bail is set at $500,000.

The 26-year-old woman was located safe.
