The Shelbyville Police Department (SPD) has arrested a man they say is connected to the death of a 16-year-old girl who was reported missing from her home in late June.

SHELBYVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Shelbyville Police Department (SPD) has arrested a man they say is connected to the death of a 16-year-old girl who was reported missing from her home in late June.

According to police, Justin Pickle was arrested by the SPD in Columbia for leaving the scene of an accident that resulted in death and tampering with evidence.

Maria Gaspar was first reported missing to the police department on June 30, by her mother. She was last seen at her home on Bridlewood Drive.

Her body was discovered days later on the side of Old Nashville Dirt Road, less than a mile from her home.

Pickle was booked into the Bedford County Jail.
