LAWRENCE COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Two people were flown to trauma centers Friday night following a collision in Lawrence County that sparked a vehicle fire.

Lawrence County Fire and Rescue said units were dispatched shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 11 to a report of a crash with one vehicle on fire and people trapped inside along Buffalo Road near Valley Road.


Multiple people injured after shooting reported near TSU

According to officials, crews from the Ethridge Fire Department were first on scene and confirmed that two individuals were heavily pinned inside on of the vehicles.

“The fire had been extinguished but both patients were triaged as critical,” Lawrence County Fire and Rescue wrote on Facebook. “The incident commander quickly recognized the severity of the entrapment and requested additional resources to the scene.”

While firefighters worked to remove the people from the vehicle, officials said two medical helicopters were called to the scene. Personnel from Lawrence County EMS provided treatment as soon as they were able to access the patients. Then, after the individuals were freed from the vehicle, they were flown to Level 1 Trauma Centers.

Tennessee Highway Patrol is reportedly investigating the collision. No additional details have been released about this incident.
