An Albany man has been arrested in relation to a shooting that happened in Menands in September. Zacceus Cancer, 24, has been charged with attempted murder.

MENANDS, N.Y. (NEWS10) — An Albany man has been arrested in relation to a shooting that happened in Menands in September. The Menands Police Department said Zacceus Cancer, 24, has been charged with attempted murder.

Police responded to the Exit 6 ramp of I-787 and Broadway in Menands on September 7 for reports of shots fired. Once there, officers found a 35-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to Albany Med with non-life-threatening injuries.

On October 8, police executed a search warrant at an apartment in Albany where they found a loaded handgun and crack cocaine. Cancer was arraigned in the Village of Menands Court later that morning.

Second-degree criminal possession of a weapon

First-degree reckless endangerment

Cancer was indicted by an Albany County Grand Jury on those charges on October 11. He was remanded to the Albany County Jail.
