“Every year this tent has gotten bigger, the additional food and beverage and fun and Oompa bands. It’s a great time,” said the Lake George Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, Gina Mintzer.

There were a lot of options for food as folks lined up to pick their favorite sausage while others enjoyed brews and more

One family has been coming from south of Syracuse for three years now.  “We’re just out having fun with the family. Have a fun family night,” said Alexis Martin.

“Having a grand old time, having some beer and pretzels and listening to polka music. Prost!” Exclaimed Jon Martin.

This year the festival promises a weekend of fun.  John Carr, Adirondack Pub and Brewery founder said, “We’ve got over 50 vendors that are here from really, all over the region. So, whatever you’re into, we’ve got a bunch of food vendors. We also have some of our very traditional food if that’s what you’re into. The other thing is for kids and families. We got all sorts of rides.”

Over the years the Oktoberfest here has generated over $135,000 for local charities. This year’s beneficiary is the Ben Osborn Memorial Fund. Corporal Osborn died in the line of duty while serving in the army in Afghanistan in 2010. “More importantly, his family turned that tragedy into something phenomenal for the community. Books for every kid, no matter what. If we can get every kid to read, it’s the Ben Osborne program that helps do that,” said Mintzer.

The Oktoberfest in Lake George runs Saturday from noon to 10 pm and Sunday noon until 5 pm.
