The Massachusetts Women of Color Coalition held an empowerment summit in Springfield Friday evening.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Massachusetts Women of Color Coalition held an empowerment summit in Springfield Friday evening.

More than 50 women from the region gathered to hear from founding and current board members about the issues women face on a daily.

The theme of the summit was “Taking the Cape Off For Your Next Act.” Those who attended say they were eager to learn more about empowering women of color and being an advocate for the community.

“It’s so important because we live in a world right now that is so oppressive and especially for women of color we need organizations and events like these that are supportive of each other”, says Celia Johnston Blue, President, CEO, and a founding member of Massachusetts Women of Color Coalition.
