Albany Police arrested two adults and a teen from Albany on Willet Street early Saturday morning for alleged firearm possession. Police said Tywone Jackson, 21, Jauwan Giles, 20, and a 16-year-old were all charged with one count of second and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10)– Albany Police arrested two adults and a teen from Albany on Willet Street early Saturday morning for alleged firearm possession. Police said Tywone Jackson, 21, Jauwan Giles, 20, and a 16-year-old were all charged with one count of second and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
Police and fire officials were on a separate call around 2:05 a.m. on Saturday when gunshots were heard coming from Washington Park near Willet Street. According to law enforcement, multiple people were fleeing the area, Jackson leading police in a foot chase and attempting to dispose of a loaded 9mm handgun before he was arrested.
Police noticed a man, later identified as Giles, trying to get into a car parked in the middle of the street near Hudson Avenue and Willet Street. Police said they found Giles with a loaded 9mm handgun.
While police took Giles into custody, they noticed the 16-year-old crouched behind the passenger seat, who led police in a short on-foot pursuit. Law enforcement said they found an AR rifle near the spot where the teen was before he tried to flee police.
Jackson and Giles were arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court and remain in Albany County Jail. The teen was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court and remains in the Capital District Juvenile Secure Detention Center.
