Tavares was in the co-main event of UFC Vegas 98.

Hawaii’s Brad Tavares lost a split decision to Junyong Park on Saturday at UFC Fight Night 244 on Saturday in Las Vegas.

Park (18-6) won the fight 29-28, 28-29, 29-28 on the scorecards.

Tavares (20-10) landed a knockdown of Park in the first 30 seconds of the fight but could not capitalize, going for a submission that Park slipped out of.

UFC Vegas 98 concludes with a flyweight contender bout between Brandon Royval and Tatsuro Taira in the main event.

Tavares was set to make history in multiple ways on Saturday. UFC Vegas 98 was his 25th time fighting in a middleweight UFC bout, giving him the most all time in UFC middleweight history.

Tavares is still one win away from tying Michael Bisping’s record for UFC middleweight victories.
