Hawaii hosts No. 17 Boise State on Saturday.

When the University of Hawaii football team takes on No. 17 Boise State at a sold-out Clarence T.C. Ching Athletics Complex on Saturday night, it will do so against star running back and leading Heisman Trophy candidate Ashton Jeanty. The junior currently leads the country with 1,031 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns on 95 carries in five games.

No. 17 Boise State 28, Hawaii 7, Final

8:42: Boise State runs the clock out and 28-7 is your final in a game that was close than what the final score indicated. Another missed opportunity for Hawaii, who falls to 2-4.

8:36: Hawaii turns it over on downs from its own 30 with 2:05 left.

8:28: Touchdown Boise State. On fourth-and-1 at the Hawaii 44, Maddux Madsen finds Austin Bolt for a touchdown. Dagger. Broncos lead 28-7 with 3:44 left.

8:19: Hawaii goes for it on fourth-and-goal from the Boise State 20 and doesn’t convert. Boise State takes over up 21-7 with 5:20 left.

8:02: Hawaii will start from its own 25 after the ensuing kickoff.

7:55: Boise State grinds all the way to the Hawaii 8 and fumbles. Hawaii recovers, but after a lengthy review, the play is reversed. Boise State then scores on the next play and gets the ensuing two-point conversion.

FOURTH QUARTER

7:46: The third quarter ends with Boise State facing second-and-10 at the Hawaii 36.

7:38: A false start pushes Hawaii back five yards and the ‘Bows punt instead to the Boise 9 with 1:59 left in the third quarter.

7:35: UH lines up for it on fourth-and-7 at the Boise State 38 with 2:11 left in the third quarter down 13-7. ‘Bows going for it but call timeout first.

7:33: Hawaii drives all the way to the Boise 38 and goes for it on fourth-and-7

7:25: Hawaii can’t put a drive together and lines up to punt, but an offsides gives UH fourth-and-inches. The ‘Bows go for it and convert. The drive goes on.

7:16: The Hawaii defense again comes through and forces a punt. Hawaii gets the ball on its own 10 down 13-7 with 9:03 left in the third quarter.

7:13: Another bad bounce goes Boise’s way when a near Elijah Palmer interception bounces into Ashton Jeanty’s hands.

7:10: Hawaii forces a three-and-out but then freshman Israel Solomon blasts the punter and the Boise State drive resumes. Brutal.

7:07: Boise State starts from its own 10 after getting called for a block in the back on the return.

THIRD QUARTER

6:46: After a three-and-out in which Hawaii had to punt from its own end zone, Lucas Borrow punts for 70 yards. Boise State then takes a knee to end the half and will receive the second half kickoff. UH somehow still in it.

6:40: Hawaii’s defense holds strong again, a common theme in 2024, and forces a punt. Hawaii gets the ball back on its own 14 with 55 seconds left and two timeouts.

6:33: Boise State takes the field on offense for the first time in 28 minutes of real time.

6:31: TOUCHDOWN HAWAII. Brayden Schager finds an open Tylan Hines for a 27-yard touchdown with 3:24 left in the second quarter, cutting the deficit to 13-7 with 3:24 left in the first half.

6:21: Play resumes after the back judge gets into the ambulance on his own. Tylan Hines returns the ensuing kickoff to the 5.

6:05: Boise State initially appeared to throw a touchdown but it gets overturned. Elijah Robinson gets an impressive stop on Jeanty, holding Boise State to a 22-yard field goal. Hawaii trails 13-7 with 7:06 left in the second quarter.

5:51: Kansei Matsuzawa’s 40-yard field goal attempt is wide right. UH remains scoreless.

SECOND QUARTER

5:47: The first quarter ends with Brayden Schager getting sacked at the Boise State 22 on third down. Hawaii will line up for a field goal in all likelihood to begin the second quarter.

5:37: TOUCHDOWN BOISE STATE. Ashton Jeanty takes a handoff 54 yards TO THE HOUSE. Hawaii down 10-0 with 5:48 left in the first quarter.

5:36: Ezra Evaimalo has been ejected for targeting. Hawaii is down two captains after losing Peter Manuma the first possession.

5:27: Hawaii’s next drive is negated by a holding call and punts from fourth-and-2 from its own 38. Boise State from its own 19 with 8:14 left in the first quarter.

5:23: Tylan Hines returns to kickoff to the 18.

5:20: Boise State drives down the field, but Hawaii’s defense holds tough and holds the Broncos to a 24-yard field goal by Jonah Dalmas. UH trails 3-0 with 10:14 left in the first quarter.

5:11: The Rainbow Warriors come out in five wide and three drops promptly ends the drive for Hawaii. Boise State will start from its own 35 with 14:31 left in the first. Safety Peter Manuma is down on the field. Just a nightmare start for UH.

5:08: The opening kickoff goes into the end zone for a touchback. Hawaii will start from its own 25.

5:07 p.m.: Boise State wins the toss and defers to the second half. Hawaii will receive to begin the game.
