Metro police are investigating two separate shootings in Nashville overnight that left at least one person dead.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Metro police are investigating two separate shootings in Nashville that left at least one person dead.

Metro Nashville Police Department officers responded to a reported shooting in the parking lot of Illuzion Bar and Lounge on Murfreesboro Pike just after 2:40 a.m. Sunday.

Officials said 25-year-old Raybon Porter was in the parking lot, leaning into the window of a car and talking to a friend when at least two vehicles pulled into the lot and began firing guns. Porter was struck in the back.

It is unknown if the shots were directed at a target or fired indiscriminately. Officers said Porter was likely caught in the crossfire.

He was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died.

Officers were also called to a shooting on Fairfield Avenue early Sunday morning. According to MNPD, when officers arrived at the scene, a male victim had suffered a gunshot wound to the back.

He was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he remains in critical condition.

A witness reportedly told police that two Black males in dark clothing shot the victim and then fled the scene in the direction of University Court.
