FLORENCE, Mass. (WWLP) – Florence Bank has contributed $5,000 to support the Mental Health Association’s (MHA) 26th annual “Wellness Classic” golf tournament, which raises funds to assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Students across New England awarded scholarship from ESE’s youth programs

The tournament, which was held on September 27th at Crestview Country Club in Agawam, typically generates around $100,000 to further the MHA’s mission of improving lives through specialized community-based programs.

Founded in the 1960s and based in Chicopee, the MHA serves people facing mental health challenges, homelessness, intellectual disabilities, brain injuries, and substance use disorders. The organization operates over 60 residential programs across Hampden, Hampshire, and Franklin counties through four key divisions: Recovery and Housing, New Way Services, Integration and Community Living, and Bestlife Emotional Health and Wellness.

Florence Bank has been a long-time supporter and banking partner of the MHA, helping the organization provide critical services to approximately 3,500 to 3,800 individuals each year. Matt Garrity, Florence Bank’s President and CEO, emphasized the importance of the sponsorship, saying, “We are honored to support the MHA’s efforts, ensuring individuals receive the care they need to restore self-worth, rebuild relationships, and achieve health and wellness.”

Jen Ducharme, MHA’s vice president of developmental and community relations, praised the ongoing partnership with Florence Bank, stating, “They are a true partner in every sense, providing both financial and community support.”

The funds raised from the Wellness Classic allow the MHA to continue offering personalized care that meets the unique needs of individuals across its various programs, helping them live healthier, more independent lives.
