CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Citadel cadets will be in the community Wednesday to give back and help where needed. It’s part of an annual Leadership Day, which provides roughly 7,000 hours of service to the Lowcountry every year.

Officials with the military college said they expect to reach a milestone at the end of the service day. Cadets could surpass 100,000 hours of service from all Leadership Days combined.

All classes will participate in various activities from visiting elementary schools where they will talk with students, to volunteering with different organizations and meeting with professionals from industries relevant to their degrees.

The college said activities are designed to “engage students in a meaningful education and developmental process” outside the classroom by learning through service in the community and interacting with diverse populations.
