RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Police activity on I-24 near Joe B Jackson Parkway is causing heavy traffic delays in Rutherford County.

Monday morning, all eastbound lanes were closed for over two hours near mile marker 83. Around 5 a.m., the far right lane reopened, allowing some traffic to move through.

Joe B Jackson Parkway was also blocked, but has since reopened.

A heavy police presence has been on the scene since 1:59 a.m. Wednesday morning. Just before 6 a.m. officials told News 2 the closure was due to a multi-vehicle crash.

Shortly after, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation confirmed that agents were called to the area due to a reported officer-involved shooting.

No additional information was immediately released.
