A student who brought a loaded handgun to Antioch High School is now facing criminal charges, according to authorities.

ANTIOCH, Tenn. (WKRN) — A student who brought a loaded handgun to Antioch High School is now facing criminal charges, according to authorities.

The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) said school administration and school resource officers “received information from social media” that a 16-year-old student brought a gun to school Tuesday.

On Wednesday morning, officials located the 16-year-old during arrival and found that he had a loaded handgun in his pants. Police said the gun was not reported stolen and the student claimed it did not belong to him.

The 16-year-old was charged in Juvenile Court with juvenile handgun possession and carrying a gun on school property, according to MNPD.
