NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Metro Council voted on a resolution that would put Nashville one step closer to the construction of the Opry Mills Greenway Connector.


Metro Council defers Metro Police’s request to expand FUSUS surveillance by two meetings

On Tuesday, Metro Council approved a resolution that allows them to apply for a Transit Alternatives Program grant. That grant funding would go toward the construction of the Opry Mills Greenway Connector, which would link the Stones River Greenway and the Cumberland River Greenway.

If Metro Council receives the grant, that would put about $18 million towards the project. The Opry Mills Greenway Connector is a half-mile long, ADA-compliant design that would run from the Cumberland River Pedestrian Bridge all the way to the Opry Mills campus.

Last month, the Metro Parks and Recreation board meeting covered the proposal. Cindy Harrison with Metro Parks Greenways, Trails and Open Space told News 2 that this is a “regionally significant” project.

“In addition to a linear park and conserving open space and getting people out in nature along the Cumberland River, it also provides an opportunity for off-street multi-modal transportation,” Harrison said in September.
