Pattaya, Thailand-

On October 19th, 2024, Ms. Thipawan Komani, 36, reached out to The Pattaya News after her 16-year-old son, Mr. Ittichat, was seriously injured in a recent hit-and-run accident.

The accident occurred when a sedan cut in front of him, causing him to crash his motorcycle into the car. The driver heartlessly fled the scene without offering assistance, leaving Mr. Ittichat lying injured on the road. A good Samaritan who witnessed the accident called rescue workers, who arrived promptly and provided the necessary aid.

Ms. Thipawan explained that on October 12th, her son was on his way to pick up his pregnant sister-in-law in Pattaya when the accident happened. At a U-turn point opposite Soi Banglamung 29, a black sedan abruptly cut in front of him, causing the collision. Despite the severity of the crash, the driver immediately sped away, leaving Mr. Ittichat lying injured on the road.

After the accident, Ms. Thipawan filed a report with the Banglamung Police Station. Although they reviewed CCTV footage from the scene and the escape route, the images were too unclear to identify the vehicle’s license plate. This lack of clear evidence has hindered the police investigation.

Mr. Ittichat suffered significant injuries, including a broken facial bone, a broken arm, and bruising around both eyes. Due to the expiration of his vehicle’s insurance, the family had to borrow 30,000 baht to cover initial medical expenses. Mr. Ittichat is set to undergo surgery, adding further financial strain on the family.

Ms. Thipawan is appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the accident or has dashcam footage to come forward with information. She also urges the driver to turn themselves in and requests the police to intensify their efforts in tracking down the responsible party.
