Mariota was pressed into action and delivered a dominant performance on Sunday.

In his first extensive action of the 2024 season, Saint Louis alumnus Marcus Mariota led the Washington Commanders to a dominant 40-7 win over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

Pressed into early action due to a rib injury to rookie starter Jayden Daniels, Mariota entered in the first quarter and started 0-for-3, but found his comfort zone from there and completed 18 of his 23 passes for 205 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions.

Daniels appeared to be in good spirits in observing the rest of the game on the Washington sideline, but no formal announcement has been made yet.
