ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A woman who took a plea deal in connection to the death of her four-month-old daughter learned on Tuesday how long she will spend in prison. Christina Bennett pled no contest to child abandonment resulting in death in August.


BCSO: Homeowner allegedly shoots intruder in far west Albuquerque

Last year in April, Bennett showed up at her parent’s Albuquerque home and said her baby was dead. An autopsy found meth in the baby’s system. Witnesses told police Bennett was a drug user and breastfed the infant. Six days earlier, Bennett led Albuquerque police on a chase, running red lights, and driving the wrong way down roads with the four-month-old in her lap.

Judge Stanley Whitaker sentenced Bennett to ten years behind bars.
