EASTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) – The Center for Human Development (CHD) is hosting an open house for its newly relocated Outpatient Behavioral Health Clinic in Easthampton on October 30.

The event will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 30 at the clinic’s new location, located at 65 Union Street in Easthampton.

The clinic has moved from Northampton Street to a larger, renovated facility in downtown Easthampton to better serve the community’s growing mental health needs. The new building, nearly doubling the clinic’s previous size, now offers 6,950 square feet of space, significantly expanding its capacity to provide mental health and substance use services.

Program Director Mary Loomis expressed her excitement about the clinic’s increased accessibility and the ability to provide more services, including expanded therapy groups and recovery support services.

“We’re more available and present in the community,” Loomis said. “The new location is much more visible and accessible, with better bus routes and walkability.”

The clinic’s expanded programming includes resources for housing assistance and job placement, which Loomis says are crucial in addressing challenges related to the affordable housing crisis in the region. In addition, CHD’s Community Support Program and the Children’s Behavioral Health Initiative (CBHI) have been integrated into the clinic, further enhancing its service offerings.

Western Massachusetts continues to see a rise in demand for mental health services, especially among children and youth. Loomis noted the increasing rates of anxiety and depression in young people, fueled in part by social media pressures. “Early intervention is key to addressing concerns before they escalate,” she emphasized.

The clinic is currently accepting appointments and offers walk-in hours Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to noon. Those interested in learning more about CHD’s services can attend the open house or call 1-844-CHD-HELP for assistance.
