LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Kentucky State Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash that occurred on October 18 at the intersection of KY 192 and Boggs Road in Laurel County, resulting in the death of a 3-year-old boy.

Officials say the crash happened around 7:50 a.m. when a 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by 29-year-old Christopher E. Russell of London, KY, failed to yield and collided with a 2006 Volvo dump truck driven by Merle V. Gumm of Corbin, KY. Both vehicles fell into a creek after hitting a bridge railing.

Russell and 3-year-old Ezekiel Russell were airlifted to the University of Kentucky Hospital with severe injuries. Tragically, Ezekiel died from his injuries on October 20, according to the Fayette County Coroner’s Office. The investigation is ongoing.
