[1] Roswell residents pick up the pieces after deadly flooding – Roswell residents are beginning the recover process after heavy flooding. The New Mexico National Guard says that flooding led to at least two deaths and more than 500 rescues Saturday into Sunday. The Governor signed an emergency declaration for Chaves County, giving the county $1 million in emergency funding. The Governor says the state will continue working with local officials to assist in recovery efforts.

[2] City councilors, residents call out APD shooting of man in handcuffs – Protests broke out in Albuquerque last weekend over a deadly officer-involved shooting. At Monday night’s city council meeting, there was outrage from residents and councilors demanding change. APD was at the Tewa Lodge off Central and Alvarado when officers encountered Matthew Garcia. Officers cuffed Garcia and placed him in the back of a police cruiser without searching him. It was later discovered that Garcia had a gun. A struggle ensued and ended with Garcia being shot in the back of the police unit, killing him. APD said it will release the body camera video later in its investigation.

[3] Chilly this morning but warmer temperatures ahead – The strongest storm system of the season has now entirely cleared the region well to the northeast as much more pleasant weather is ahead. Temperatures will return back to above-normal criteria for this time of the year. Temperatures will mostly be on the climb until a brief change ensues late this week.

[4] Two New Mexico hotels ranked among America’s most haunted – A pair of hotels in Santa Fe have landed on a list of the most haunted in America. According to Historic Hotels of America, Las Posada de Santa Fe and La Fonda made their list of America’s Most Haunted. La Posada is said to be haunted by the original owner’s late wife, Julia Staab. According to Historic Hotels of America, several ghosts have been reportedly seen at La Fonda. The hotel even offers a ghost tour package.

[5] Spirit Halloween donates portion of sales to Presbyterian Hospital – Spirit Halloween pops up every fall and has been providing a part of its proceeds to children’s hospitals as part of its ‘Spirit of Children’ program. The goal is to make hospitals less scary for pediatric patients and families. Last year, the Spirit of Children raised over $160,000 for Presbyterian and over the lifetime of the program they have raised over a million dollars.
