LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Happy Tuesday!

Today will be warmer, with temperatures climbing into the upper 70s to near 80 degrees after a chilly start. A southwesterly breeze will help push temperatures higher than we saw on Monday. Expect plenty of sunshine, making it another dry and pleasant day. But get ready for some changes as we move into Wednesday.

Wednesday: A Cold Front on the Way

A cold front will sweep through the area on Wednesday. There isn’t much moisture with this front, so rain is not expected. However, you’ll notice a bit of a breeze, with winds picking up to around 10-15 mph. Despite the front’s passage, temperatures will still be seasonably warm, reaching the mid-to-upper 70s. Cooler air will follow the front, arriving late Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

Thursday: A Chilly Start

Thursday morning will start off cold, with temperatures in the 40s. The afternoon will struggle to warm up, with highs only reaching the upper 60s. It’s a good idea to dress in layers, as you’ll feel the cooler air throughout the day.

Friday: Warming Up Again

Temperatures will rebound quickly on Friday, climbing back into the upper 70s ahead of another, stronger cold front. This second front will bring a slight chance of showers Friday night into Saturday, but any rain will be light and scattered.

Weekend Outlook: Cooler temps

Cooler air will settle in over the weekend. Expect some clouds on Saturday and the possibility of a few lingering showers. Highs will struggle to get out of the 60s. Sunday morning will be chilly, with temperatures in the upper 30s to low 40s, warming up only to the low-to-mid 60s by the afternoon.

Looking Ahead: Warming Trend into Next Week

Next week will start off with temperatures rebounding into the 70s, with mainly dry weather through Halloween on Thursday. There’s potential for another strong cold front to arrive late October or early November, which could bring a chance for more widespread rain and possibly storms.
