ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The authenticity of elections has become a growing topic of discourse, and in some cases, led to disagreement in the United States. In an effort to ensure voters can trust the local election process, New Mexicans will see ‘Election Monitors’ at polling locations across the state on November 5th.

This week on New Mexico Insiders Podcast, Observe New Mexico Elections Co-Lead, Carmen López, and Associate Director of Democracy, & Peace Programs at the Carter Center, Sarah Cooper, join Chris and Gabby to discuss election integrity, and the non-partisan observation effort to increase transparency across the state’s 33 counties.

“I just think it’s so valuable for people to hear from their own peers about things like this,” Cooper explained. “Because I do think there’s greater potential for ordinary citizens to be trusted messengers than when the information kind of comes in a more top-down manner.”
