22News Storm Team Meteorologist Chris Bouzakis has a look at how dry we are and what the future could look like when it comes to any rainfall.
CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – With very little rain so far this month, Massachusetts is beginning to see drought-like conditions.
Temperatures have been feeling like summer the past few days and we haven’t seen measurable rainfall since October 14th and even that wasn’t much of anything with .32 inches of rain. So far for the month of October, Westover in Chicopee has only seen .62 inches of rain. The average rainfall for October is 3.6 inches.
September and October combined have only accumulated 1.32 inches of rain in nearly a 60-day stretch. Most of western Massachusetts is under abnormally dry conditions while northern Berkshire County and western Franklin County are under a moderate drought.
Looking ahead to November, NOAA is predicting an above-average month when it comes to temperatures with near-normal or slightly below-normal precipitation. There isn’t any significant rainfall in sight for at least the next 7 days.
