NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The director of Metro Nashville Public Schools (MNPS), Dr. Adrienne Battle, will be presented with a new contract offer after receiving a vote of confidence from the MNPS board.

Tuesday night, the board discussed their support for Battle and their intent to keep her in the district. They noted several academic improvements that have been made since Battle started her term in 2020.

Hundreds of MNPS students could face rezoning in 2025-2026 school year

The board said Battle has responded to hardships in Nashville very well, including a pandemic and natural disasters. They noted that post-pandemic, MNPS was one of only two large urban school districts with top ten growth in reading and math, nationally.

“It takes a really focused leader, a very strategic leader to be able to narrow in and do the work that we are seeing, and we are seeing it year after year,” said Berthena Nabaa-McKinney, MNPS School Board District 4.
