The Springfield Thunderbirds are bringing a taste of Boston’s sports legacy to the ice this November with two exciting promotional nights celebrating the New England Patriots and the Boston Celtics.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Springfield Thunderbirds are bringing a taste of Boston’s sports legacy to the ice this November with two exciting promotional nights celebrating the New England Patriots and the Boston Celtics.

On Saturday, Nov. 16, the Thunderbirds will host a New England Patriots-themed night at the MassMutual Center as they face off against the Charlotte Checkers at 7:05 p.m.

Fans will have the opportunity to meet Pat the Patriot, the official team mascot, along with members of the Patriots cheerleading squad. Throughout the evening, guests can snap photos with these special visitors on the concourse, adding an extra dose of football fun to the hockey action.

Then, on Friday, Nov. 29, the Thunderbirds will celebrate the Boston Celtics with a special Black Friday matinee game at 4:05 p.m.

Not only will the Celtics dancers make an appearance, but fans will also have the rare opportunity to see and take photos with the Larry O’Brien Trophy, commemorating the Celtics’ historic 18th NBA championship, which they secured in the 2023-24 season.

The team is encouraging fans to come out and enjoy these exciting crossover events, which combine hockey with the spirit of New England’s favorite football and basketball franchises. Tickets for both games are available through the Springfield Thunderbirds’ website.
