SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Two people from Springfield are feeling extra lucky on Wednesday.
According to the Massachusetts Lottery, William Carpenter of Springfield has won $1 million in the Massachusetts State Lottery’s new “$2,500,000 Merry & Bright” instant ticket game. Carpenter chose the cash option and received a one-time payment of $650,000, before taxes.
Carpenter plans on putting his winnings into savings. The ticket was purchased at the Sunco in Abington and will receive a $10,000 bonus for the sale of the ticket.
Stacey Hildreth-Fortin of Springfield has also won $1 million in the Massachusetts
State Lottery’s “$1,000,000 Ultimate 7” instant ticket game. Hildreth-Fortin also chose the cash option and received $650,000, before taxes. She says she plans on investing with her winnings.
Her winning ticket was purchased at the Quality Fuel & Mart on Bay Street in Springfield and will receive a $10,000 bonus for the sale of the ticket.
