NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Nashville’s Main Library reopened Saturday after two months of construction and improvements.

The library on Church Street reopened its doors to the public at 9 a.m. for the first time since August. Guests can once again check out books, reserve items and participate in programs.

According to the Nashville Public Library (NPL) website, the building underwent HVAC system maintenance during the hiatus. The work allowed the building to better regulate temperatures throughout the three-story, 20,000-square-foot structure.

“While customers won’t see changes to the interior, they will experience the Main Library in a comfortable environment, thanks to this essential work,” the NPL said.

The library’s Civil Rights Room will remain closed until further notice due to renovations.

The Robinson Courtyard has also undergone changes. The library removed all trees from the courtyard due to flooring damage caused by roots, which led to leaks in the roof of the adjacent parking garage.
