CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – A Red Flag Warning is in effect for all of western Massachusetts Saturday from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. for the potential of brush fires that could spread quickly due to dry and windy conditions.

Last October weekend fall foliage report in Massachusetts

A Red Flag Warning is the highest level of caution issued by the National Weather Service and is issued when dry conditions meet high wind speeds. This means that critical fire weather conditions are occurring, and any fires that start may spread rapidly and become difficult to extinguish.

Dry weather and gusty winds will result in potentially critical fire weather conditions. Saturday will have a mix of sun and clouds with highs in the lower 60s. It will be breezy, and skies will be partly cloudy Saturday night with lows down into the 30s.
