LAWRENCE, KS. (WCIA) — A verdict has been reached in Terrence Shannon Jr.’s criminal rape trial.

After approximately 90 minutes of deliberation, Judge Amy Hanley read the jury found Terrence Shannon Jr. not guilty of rape and not guilty of aggravated sexual battery.


‘This is about someone’s life’: Prosecutors, defense lay out closing arguments in Terrence Shannon Jr. criminal trial

The Douglas County District Attorney’s office issued the following statement following the verdict:

“It takes tremendous courage for a survivor of sexual assault to come forward. We will continue to pursue justice on behalf of survivors.”

WCIA also reached out to Shannon Jr.’s legal team for comment, but has not heard back yet.
