SHAWNEE COUNTY (KSNT) – Local residents will have a rare opportunity to dump their trash for free this weekend.

From 7 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 15, the Waste Management Rolling Meadows landfill will be hosting a free dump day. This is a great opportunity for people in the community to toss items that are taking up too much space.

Prohibited items include anything hazardous, all liquids, tires and anything with refrigerant. Tree branches, building materials, concrete, rocks, as well as regular trash items are allowed.

“We do the free dump day to help our community out,” said Keith Cain, an operations manager for Waste Management. “To give them a chance to help clean up the surrounding area. We do not make any money off this, this is for our community to help them out for free.”

The landfill is located at 7351 NW Highway 75 in Shawnee County.
