CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Richmond area residents can spend their Wednesday morning canoeing on the water at Pocahontas State Park in Chesterfield County.
The event will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, June 19, with the group meeting at the Swift Creek boat launch.
Attendees will get a brief overview of canoeing safety and techniques and learn about nature in the area.
All equipment will be provided and attendees must be ages 6 and up.
Boats are limited and attendees must register in advance at the park office or by calling 804-796-4255. The event fee is $10 per person and must be paid during registration.

Attendees are asked to bring water, snacks and sunscreen, wear close-toed shoes that they don’t mind getting dirty or wet and arrived 15 minutes early. The event may be cancelled due to weather.
