North Dakota (KXNET) —The third Sunday in June is celebrated annually as Father’s Day.
Father’s Day is a day born out of love, gratitude, and appreciation for the men who shape our lives in meaningful ways.

This Father’s Day, many in the community are celebrating their father, father figure, or a special person in their life that took on a paternal role. Some spend the day with their fathers fishing, having a nice barbecue, or simply spending quality time with family. KX News spoke to some fathers at the Porcupine, North Dakota Pow Wow to see what it means to them.

“Father’s Day in my heart is that you’re proud,” shares Joseph Montana, a commander of the Color Guard. “You’re very proud of your children. You’re a father. You protect them, provide for them. And you know all the fathers out there, and I know a lot of them are very good to do these things and always to keep up with these things and be a role model to these kids.”

“I’m proud of my two kids,” reflects Michael Crowfeather, Sioux County sheriff. “And I’ve got kids that are looking up to me to show them the way in life, how to go about things. What to do and what not to do. Be there for them at all times, school functions, when they wreck on their bike. Just any time they need me to just be available for them and make the time for them.”

We wish all who are fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, or father figures a very special and happy Father’s Day.
