RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) – Democrat Leslie C. Mehta will challenge Republican Rep. Rob Wittman in November after defeating Herb Jones in Virginia’s 1st Congressional District primary, according to the Associated Press.

The Associated Press called the race for Mehta around 8:20 p.m. Tuesday. As of 9 p.m., and with 15 of 18 localities in the district reporting results, Mehta has 68% of the vote.
