NORTH DAKOTA (KXNET) — Oh boy, do we have a summer appetizer recipe for you this Wednesday!

They are called pig shots and although they are a little time-consuming, they are the star of whatever event you bring them to.

These delicious pig shots are the ultimate appetizer that is packed with flavor from the thick crispy bacon, smoked sausage, cream cheese mixture, jalapenos, and a honey BBQ glaze.

BBQ Pig Shots

Ingredients:

1/4 cup of brown sugar

1/4 cup of honey

1/2 cup of barbeque sauce

Two smoked kielbasa smoked sausages

Two packs of bacon

Eight jalapenos

Two 12 oz. packages of cream cheese

1 cup of sour cream

1 cup of cheddar cheese, shredded

Toothpicks

Instructions:

First start with the glaze: add brown sugar, honey, and BBQ sauce to a bowl. Mix and set aside.

Chop Kielbasa smoked sausages into half-inch slices.

Slice two packs of bacon in half.

Thinly dice six jalapenos, and thinly slice two jalapenos. (remove seeds or leave them in for the level of heat you prefer)

Take a sliced sausage and wrap a piece of bacon around it at the bottom making a little cup at the top. Secure it with a toothpick. Set onto a baking sheet and put them into the fridge while making the cream filling.

Two packages of cream cheese and a cup of sour cream go into a mixing bowl. Beat together until light and fluffy.

Add in your diced jalapenos, and a cup of shredded cheddar cheese.

The cream mixture goes into a piping bag or a zip lock bag.

Grab your pig shots out of the fridge and pipe the cream filling into the bacon-wrapped sausages.

Top with the thinly sliced jalapenos, lightly pushing them into the cream cheese filling.

Then the final touch is brushing the bacon with the BBQ honey mixture.

Now you can bake these in the oven for 35 minutes or you can throw them on your smoker for 45 minutes.

Let them cool and you will have the greatest BBQ appetizer of all time.
