BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — A shooting incident on the morning of Sunday, June 23 has resulted in three men being injured — one of whom is now facing multiple felony charges.

According to the Minot Police Department, at approximately 3:10 a.m., officers received reports of multiple people fighting in the Area 10 block of 1st Avenue Southeast, as well as possible gunshots. Upon their arrival at the scene, officers completed a high-risk traffic stop on a suspect vehicle attempting to leave the area. Here, they took a suspect — a 23-year-old man from Fayetteville, North Carolina — into custody, and seized a firearm from his car.

The first victim of the incident received minor injuries to his hand before being treated and released. The second victim (a 36-year-old man) sustained more serious injuries to his abdomen, and had to undergo surgery as part of his treatment.

The suspect is being charged with Reckless Endangerment and Felon in Possession of a Firearm, both of which are Class C Felonies. He is currently at Trinity Health to treat a gunshot injury to his foot sustained from return gunfire during the shooting incident. He will be transported to the Ward County Jail once he is released from medical care.
