CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Gallons of fuel leaked into a storm drain in Chesterfield County after a two-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer on Monday.
At about 5:32 p.m. on Monday, June 24, Chesterfield Fire & EMS responded to the intersection of Ware Bottom Spring and Old Stage roads for report of a two-vehicle crash.
When crews arrived, they found the crash involved a tractor-trailer and a car. According to fire officials, one of the saddle tanks on the tractor-trailer was ruptured in the crash, causing it to leak.
This fuel reportedly leaked into a nearby storm drain. According to fire officials, hazmat crews were dispatched to contain and control the leak.

As of the time of reporting, it is not known how much fuel leaked. 8News will provide an update once that information is available.
The road was closed so the scene could be cleared. It is expected to reopen before 10 p.m. Monday evening.
