Wildfires have been wreaking havoc in Ruidoso, New Mexico, since June 17.

“The immense loss this community faces is heartbreaking,” Franklin Graham said. “Pray with us for these communities and each hurting family.”

The Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (BG-RRT) is coming alongside those reeling in the wake of this disaster.

One resident, Belinda Bukovitz, narrowly escaped the fire with her husband, son, and two cats.

“I thought we were going to die,” she shared with news outlets. “It was absolute sheer terror.”

The Salt Fire and South Fork Fire have killed at least two people, burned more than 23,000 acres of land, and destroyed approximately 1,400 buildings. Twenty-nine people are still missing as the blaze continues.

“We stand with the people of Ruidoso who have suffered such heartbreaking loss from this wildfire,” said Josh Holland, international director of the BG-RRT. “Our crisis-trained chaplains will be there to offer emotional and spiritual support, helping the community navigate through this challenging time.”

Please pray for the areas affected by this fire, and for the chaplains who will be reminding those suffering that Jesus Christ offers peace, even in tragedy.
