Bruce Stebbins is a former Springfield City Councilor and has served as a Commissioner for the Massachusetts Gaming Commission.

BOSTON, Mass. (WWLP)– After firing Cannabis Control Commission Chair Shannon O’Brien on Monday, State Treasurer Deborah Goldberg named a new acting Chair Tuesday.

Bruce Stebbins was was selected to fill the position. He previously served as a Commissioner for the Massachusetts Gaming Commission, was the Business Development Administrator for the City of Springfield, and served two terms on the Springfield City Council from 2006 through 2009. 


Goldberg fires O’Brien from top CCC job

Treasurer Goldberg released this statement:

“Commissioner Bruce Stebbins has served as a joint appointee of the Treasurer, the Governor, and the Attorney General since 2021. He was appointed based upon his experience in oversight or industry management, including commodities, production, or distribution in a regulated industry. I am confident that Commissioner Stebbins will ensure stability during this period and will continue to positively impact the important mission of the CCC. I am grateful that he has agreed to serve in this capacity until a permanent Chair is appointed.”
