A relatively hot day is ahead for New Mexico. Best chances for rain will be in the Northern Mountains.

Temperatures continue to climb across Central and Southern New Mexico this afternoon. Reaching highs in the lower to mid 90’s. These temperatures are several degrees above average. Temperatures will only get hotter on Thursday as the state drastically dries out. Areas like Roswell could potentially see record breaking high’s on Thursday.

Spotty to isolated storms are expected in Northern New Mexico today. The Northern Mountains will have the best chances for rain later this afternoon and into the evening. Central New Mexico could see a few sprinkles of rain later this evening as well. Areas in the Metro that are closest to the mountains will have the best, though still minimal, chance of rain.

New Mexico will be drastically drying out tomorrow though Friday. Rain chances will be minimal across the entire state. This is due to the dry westerly air being brought in by a Low Pressure System to our Northwest. Spotty chances of rain will return to Southern New Mexico on Saturday.

Larger amounts of moisture will be brought back to New Mexico starting Sunday. This moisture will be the result of a potential tropical system. The moisture will allow for widespread rain chances Sunday through early next week.
