NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – A taxpayer advocate will be available in the Lowcountry next month to help taxpayers resolve their state tax issues in person.

The advocate will travel the state and visit South Carolina Department of Revenue offices over the next several weeks. Their stop in the Charleston metro area will take place on Monday, October 14.

SCDOR officials say the advocate will offer support for taxpayers who have been unable to resolve their state tax issues through the SCDOR’s established procedures.

“The Taxpayer Advocate is empowered to intervene on a taxpayer’s behalf if they determine that the SCDOR’s actions are creating an undue hardship, or the agency isn’t justified in its actions,” SCDOR said in a news release Thursday morning.

The advocate will be available from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at 2070 Northbrook Boulevard, Suite B7 in the North Rivers Business Center in North Charleston.

Appointments are recommended. Taxpayers can book a time by emailing TaxpayerAdvocate@dor.sc.gov.

Additional stops around South Carolina include offices in Florence, Greenville, Rock Hill, and Myrtle Beach.
