According to police, witnesses told detectives the dispute started the morning of August 24 when Aragon and his friends were at a smoke shop in southeast Albuquerque. Police say the group of teens were hanging outside the shop and noticed McDanile arrive with an ATV.

Aragon expressed interest in buying the ATV but wanted to take it for a test drive. Police say Aragon took the ATV for a ride while his friends waited with McDaniel. When Aragon didn’t return, McDaniel and her friends became agitated and said they thought the teen was trying to steal the ATV.

Police say Muñoz Delgado later had Aragon’s friends take him where the ATV was. The group later arrived at the scene where a fight began. Police say Muñoz Delgado allegedly fired one round, striking Aragon. They say Aragon was also armed with a handgun and fired several rounds, striking Muñoz Delgado.

Aragon was transported to the hospital where he later died.

McDaniel was observed on surveillance video picking up Aragon’s handgun and fleeing from the scene, according to APD.

Detectives identified Muñoz Delgado as the suspect and secured an arrest warrant on Sept. 7, 2024. He is currently at the Metro Detention Center. McDaniel is wanted by police for her charges in connection to the murder.
