Frankfort, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — On Thursday, Governor Andy Beshear traveled to Laurel County soon after, the Governor left to head back to Frankfort for his weekly Team Kentucky

Since Monday, at least 12 counties in the states have had school days disrupted because of reported school threats.

The governor, calling for action, while also acknowledging these threats can’t be take lightly.

Beshear, calling threats sent with the intent to create or spark, fear or harm, as, quote awful.

The governor also emphasizing the need for proactive, and bipartisan, red flag laws.

“I know it’s an evil that is currently in our society and, and I’d like to think that we can both make our schools more secure, but also have a real conversation about doing something. I’m just doing something, red flag laws might not have stopped all of these, but it could stop some of them and could stop some in the future. Florida has a red flag law, this isn’t a blue state law.
It’s just one where we trust our courts to protect people’s second amendment, but to step in before someone is murdered,” says Gov. Beshear.

A red flag law, sometimes also referred to as an extreme risk law will allow a judge to temporarily remove a person’s access to guns when there is evidence that someone could pose a serious risk.
