The Michael J. Dias Foundation for Christian and Brian’s house in Springfield received a grant Monday morning.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Michael J. Dias Foundation for Christian and Brian’s house in Springfield received a grant Monday morning.

Christian and Brian’s house in the Forest Park neighborhood of Springfield helps to assist men in the area who are recovering from addiction.

These houses have been the home to hundreds of men who are in need of help. It serves as a sober living community for men in the early stages of their recovery.

Hampden District Attorney Anthony Gulluni presented the foundation with a $20,000 grant to assist those who are recovering from addiction.

Over the years, the DA’s Office has provided $45,000 to support these homes.

Brian’s mom Mary Ellen Metzger says there should be more places like Christian and Brian’s House that help people to reclaim their lives.

She says at these sober homes men can stay up to a year or longer.

“I think because it is a struggle offering people the opportunity to not have to rush out and try to make it out on their own without the support of their peers and a structured program.. I think it makes a huge difference in their lives,” said Mary Ellen Metzger

Gulluni also pledged $10,000 from his drug forfeiture account to help expand the foundation with a women’s recovery home and program.

He says through offering his support he hopes to honor the lives of Christian and Brian and carry on their legacies by helping others to overcome addiction and live long healthy lives.
