NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A man was arrested for alleged reckless driving over the weekend following a “vehicle takeover” near Nolensville Pike, according to Metro police.
The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) said officers were monitoring a group of people gathered in the parking lot of 5125 Nolensville Pike on Sunday night. Officers standing nearby and in a Metro police helicopter overhead allegedly saw Timothy Vetitoe, 47, doing “donuts” with his vehicle.
Officers determined Vetitoe was putting people in harm’s way due to his actions because a crowd was surrounding his vehicle. MNPD stated Vetitoe “was driving with a wanton disregard for the safety of people surrounding him,” according to an arrest warrant.
When MNPD officers conducted a traffic stop on Vetitioe, they discovered he was driving with a revoked driver’s license, which was taken after he was previously found to be driving under the influence.
While searching Vetitoe, officers found a round of ammunition in his pocket. After Vetitoe was arrested officers searched his vehicle in impound and discovered a handgun in the floorboard. He claimed he had only shot the weapon a few times, and that it was left in his car.
MNPD stated that Vetitoe has previous felonies on his record, such as burglary.
Veitoe is facing charges of reckless driving, driving with a revoked license and possessing a handgun as a felon. He is being held in Metro County Jail on a $13,500 bond.
