First responders rescued a missing hiker in the dark on Mt. Tom in Holyoke.

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – A hiker who was missing on Mt. Tom in Holyoke overnight has been rescued.

According to the Holyoke Fire Department, at around 8:42 p.m. fire crews, along with the Massachusetts State Police and the Holyoke Police Department, were sent to Mt. Tom for a report of a missing hiker. After a short search, the hiker was found with no injuries.

Crews were able to escort the hiker out of the woods and they were taken back to their vehicle. The area was cleared by 10:30 p.m.

Mt. Tom is a steep, rugged traprock mountain peak on the west bank of the Connecticut River, which is 4.5 miles northwest of downtown Holyoke. It features wonderful views of the Pioneer Valley in west-central Massachusetts and is a great place to hike, go cross-country skiing, and even bird-watching.
