Whataburger is expanding its reach in Tennessee, this time in more rural quarters.
MANCHESTER, Tenn. (WKRN) — Whataburger is expanding its reach in Tennessee, this time in more rural quarters.
Manchester will reportedly be the next Tennessee city to welcome the Texas-based burger chain.
A report from the Manchester Times says the 24-hour burger chain is set to open in late 2025.
An agenda from the Monday, Sept. 16, meeting of the Manchester Planning Commission lists a site plan for a proposed Whataburger location at 2758 Hillsboro Highway as an action item. Minutes from the meeting were not immediately available.
Whataburger officially opened in the Volunteer State in 2021, with the first Nashville location in Hermitage. Since then, the chain has opened 10 locations in the Nashville and Memphis areas.
Nashville-area locations include:
Old Hickory Boulevard & Juarez Drive in Hermitage
Nashville Pike in Gallatin
South Cumberland Street in Lebanon
Old Fort Parkway in Murfreesboro
Sam Ridley Parkway West & Old Nashville Highway in Smyrna
Hwy 109 & Hickory Ridge Road in Lebanon
Gallatin Pike North & Myatt Drive in Madison
A Mt. Juliet location is also on the horizon this year, joining the heavy Nashville-area presence. There are also three Memphis-area locations already open.
The Manchester location would be the furthest east the chain has expanded in Tennessee. News 2 has reached out to Whataburger for comment.
